The ERP Spectrum
Complement, Extend, or Replace Your ERP
Your IFX Hub can sit anywhere on the spectrum — a clean layer over the ERP you have, the system that fills its gaps, or the ERP itself — and move along it as your business grows.
The Short Answer
What Does It Mean to Complement, Extend, or Replace an ERP?
IFX Hub is a custom business hub built by Infraxio LLC that can work with an ERP or instead of one. Complementing an ERP means the hub sits on top of it as the interface your staff and customers use; extending means the hub handles the workflows the ERP can't; and replacing means the hub runs the general ledger, AR/AP, bank feeds, inventory, and orders itself.
You don't have to pick one forever. Most IFX Hub clients start by complementing or extending, and move further right as the hub proves itself.

Where Does Your Hub Sit?
The ERP Spectrum
Start where it makes sense for your business today, and grow into more of it as you go.
Complement
Wraps Your Existing ERP
Your hub sits on top of NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks — whatever runs your back office today. Staff, customers, and leadership get one branded experience; your ERP keeps doing what it's good at.
- Integrations with your ERP's orders, inventory, pricing, and customers
- One branded interface for every audience — no more ERP screen-share calls
- Lowest-risk path: your ERP investment stays protected
Extend
Fills the Gaps Your ERP Can't
Custom workflows, portals, integrations, and AI your ERP was never going to handle. The hub becomes the connective tissue between your ERP and everything else — CRM, fulfillment, communications, and banking.
- Industry-specific workflows ERPs treat as edge cases
- Proposals, client portal, unified inbox, and an AI assistant
- Custom integrations to anything with an API
Replace
A Full ERP Replacement
Your business operations in one custom-built system — general ledger, AR/AP, bank feeds, inventory, orders, and purchasing. No ERP licensing, no SaaS sprawl, no per-seat tax. Just your hub.
- Double-entry general ledger with period locks and reversals
- Plaid bank feeds, suggested matches, and reconciliation
- Orders, inventory, purchasing, invoicing, and payables in the hub
Not sure where you fit? We help you decide on the discovery call — and most clients move further right on this spectrum as their hub proves itself.

Your ERP Today
- Complement
- Recently implemented, well configured, and your team trusts it
- Extend
- Solid for finance, but everything around it runs on spreadsheets and side tools
- Replace
- Up for renewal, over-licensed, or used for a fraction of what you pay for
Your Accountant
- Complement
- Wants the books to stay exactly where they are
- Extend
- Happy with the GL, frustrated by manual entry feeding it
- Replace
- Open to moving the books if the ledger is real double-entry
The Biggest Pain
- Complement
- Customers and staff can't easily see or use ERP data
- Extend
- Workflows the ERP treats as edge cases — approvals, portals, industry rules
- Replace
- Paying for, and reconciling between, too many overlapping systems
Per-Seat Licensing
- Complement
- Acceptable for the finance team; too costly to extend to everyone
- Extend
- Growing faster than headcount as you add bolt-on tools
- Replace
- A cost you'd rather turn into an asset you own
Risk Appetite
- Complement
- Low — change nothing in the back office
- Extend
- Moderate — improve operations without touching the ledger
- Replace
- Ready for a planned cutover with a parallel run
Typical Starting Point
- Complement
- A branded portal and inbox on top of the ERP
- Extend
- The hub owns CRM, projects, orders, and communications
- Replace
- The hub owns the books, too

The Full Financial Stack
Go All the Way: Replace Your ERP
When you're ready to retire the ERP, your hub picks up the books too — on the same records as your customers, orders, and invoices.
General Ledger
A chart of accounts, atomic and append-only journal postings, reversals, and period locks. Reports include trial balance, profit and loss, and account ledgers.
Bank Feeds via Plaid
Bank and card transactions stream in, and the hub suggests matches for transfers, invoice deposits, and categories learned from your past decisions.
AR / AP
Invoices with Stripe online payment, charge schedules, bills you post, void, and pay, and supplier payments matched to bank transactions.
Cash Flow & Forecasting
A 12-month receivables forecast, AP aging, and a cash-flow forecast — so leadership sees what's coming, not just what happened.
Reconciliation & Close
A reconciliation workspace to clear lines and complete statements, with period locks so nothing posts into a month you've closed.
Multi-Entity & Consolidation
Multiple companies, currencies, intercompany transactions, and consolidated reporting can be built into your hub as a custom module.
Real double-entry, not a spreadsheet. Sales-order invoices, customer payments, and supplier payments post to the ledger automatically.
Accounting in DetailThe Migration Path
Start Left, Move Right
You never have to bet the business on a big-bang cutover. Each step stands on its own and earns its keep before the next one starts.
Complement
Put a branded hub, inbox, and portal on top of the ERP. Nothing in the back office changes.
Extend
Move CRM, projects, orders, and the workflows your ERP handles badly into the hub.
Run in Parallel
Stand up the hub's general ledger and bank feeds alongside the ERP and compare closes side by side.
Replace
When the numbers agree and your accountant signs off, cut over and retire the ERP license.
FAQ
ERP Questions, Answered
The questions we hear most on discovery calls about ERPs, NetSuite, and QuickBooks.
Should I replace my ERP or build on top of it?
If your ERP is well configured and your accountant is happy, build on top of it: an IFX Hub can complement or extend it without touching your books. If you're paying for licenses you barely use, reconciling between overlapping systems, or facing a costly renewal, replacing it with a hub you own is often the better long-term move. Most businesses start by complementing and move toward replacement once the hub proves itself.
Can IFX Hub sit on top of NetSuite?
Yes. In complement or extend mode, your IFX Hub integrates with NetSuite (or SAP, QuickBooks, and other systems with an API) so staff and customers work in the hub while NetSuite stays the system of record for finance. The integration is built for your specific data and workflows.
What does it mean to extend an ERP?
Extending means the hub takes over the work your ERP was never designed for — client portals, proposals, projects, a unified inbox, industry-specific workflows, and AI — while the ERP keeps the ledger. It's the most common starting point for IFX Hub clients.
Can IFX Hub fully replace an ERP?
For many small and mid-sized businesses, yes. IFX Hub includes a double-entry general ledger, Plaid bank feeds and reconciliation, invoicing, bills and payables, orders, inventory, and purchasing with landed cost. Capabilities like multi-entity consolidation, payroll, or manufacturing can be built into your hub as custom modules.
How long does it take?
It depends on where you sit on the spectrum, how many systems you're consolidating, and how much data needs to move. Scope and timeline are set on the discovery call and written into your proposal before any build starts.
What happens to the data in our current ERP?
In complement and extend mode it stays where it is and the hub integrates with it. In a replacement, we migrate the records you need — customers, products, open balances, and history — and run the hub alongside the ERP until the numbers agree.
Do we pay per-user licensing for IFX Hub?
No. Your IFX Hub is custom software you own, with full source code. There's no per-seat license, so adding staff or giving customers access doesn't raise a subscription bill.
Can we start with complement and move to replace later?
Yes — that's the path most clients take. Because the hub already holds your customers, orders, and invoices, adding the general ledger later is an extension of the same system rather than a new implementation.
